Within production process image processing systems can detect defect parts at the earliest possible level in the value chain. Defect parts or assemblies do not attain the subordinated production level and so do not cause follow-up costs. In many cases it is even possible to put back defect parts into the process after sorting-out.
Vision systems can not only detect failures but also can avoid them. In numerous critical areas of a complex production process cameras can monitor and detect changing process parameters. They give a permanent feedback to counteract, they stabilize the process, eliminate manufacturing errors an therefore avoid expensive machine downtime.
Two-camera system in a punch-bending machine
Punch-bending machines manufacture complex parts with high speed. A 100% inspection inside the machine has to cope mainly with limited space, vibrations, oil and the accesibility by tool changing and maintenance.
Camera modules from OTTO Vision are adapted according to the respective demands. Longlasting experience with the protection of optical components, the design of compact swiveling units as well as the application of versatile lightening concepts are the basis for a succesful implementing of camera systems in different machine types.
Camera system for burner control by manufacturing of ampullae
In medical engineering and pharmaceutics the highest quality demands are indispensable for life and carelessness is not tolerable. The same requirements are also valid for pharmaceutical ampullae which are manufactured with different shape, colour and size. The quality of the ampullae is monitored by modern in-line camera systems in every stage of the current production.
OTTO Vision monitors with its vision control system at the beginning of the production process, directly inside the machine that is forming glass to ampullae. Under this difficult environmental conditions the camera inspects the contour of the ampoule, evaluates the measuring results in order to control the burner directly.
Multi-camera system in an individual section machine (container glass production)
Under the rough environmental conditions in a container glass factory so called hot-end inspection systems assure manufacturing quality by a non-contact 100% inspection close to production. Radiant heat, oil-polluted air, vibrating machinery and continuous operation around-the-clock imply an extreme pollution for optical and electronical components.
Based on the long lasting experience of OTTO Vision it was possible to develop special cooling solutions, concepts for shielding of machinery and an evaluation software that form the basis for a real-time inspection. With help of the measuring results the forming process can be evaluated and influenced. This results in the minimizing of waste and the optimization of the production.
Six-camera system for inspection of plastic injection-die-moulded parts (connector production)
Composite parts made of metal and plastic, so called hybrid parts combine the advantageous features of metal with the easy-to-form quality of plastic material. The industrial sector opens up more and more areas of application because hybrid parts can be manufactured in different size, shape and colours. The high demands on operational reliability and accuracy of the parts require a 100% inspection by high-end camera systems within the production process.
OTTO Vision offers this kind of complex image processing systems which inspect the parts from different perspectives directly after the injection-die-moulding machine.
